Black and White Party at Roxy

What up, O-Town!

It's your homegirl, Ashley! This Thursday, the lovely Sabrina J. and I went to crash Matty Dubs' Black and White party at Roxy. For such a momentous occasion, the OrlandoCityBeat Gods granted us permission to ditch our lovely Shock Squad attire for something a bit more stylish. (Thank you, Gods. Wherever you may be.)

We arrived just in time for the fashion show. Or as I'd like to refer to it, the Jeans and T-Shirt show. No matter, Matty Dubs' Black and White party seemed to be a huge success. Most everyone dressed in theme, excluding a few party poopers and some out-of-towners. Sabrina and I managed to scout some hot guys and gals for your viewing pleasure on the O-Lens and video. Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!

I went to O-LENS & I didn't see my picture!!!

Jessie! I have some good news & some bad news. The bad news is that we take A LOT of pictures when we cover different events for orlandocitybeat.com & only 25 or so end up on the web site. HOWEVER... there is good news. We take some of the pictures that weren't posted & use them for our OrlandoCityBeat Street Edition Newspaper that comes out on a weekly basis. Also... we definitely want you to come out to a future event & pose for some additional pictures which will be posted again on O-Lens! We hope to see you again soon.

Saturday on Wall Street!

Hey, Brandy here...I went to Wall Street this past Saturday to see what was going on and I found quite the commotion.  I got there rather early, and at first it was dead, but then people started flocking to Slingapour's for Attorney Richard E. Hornsby's birthday/1 year anniversary of his law firm party.  There were a lot of people, including the band Room 90 who performed throughout the party.  I spoke with lead singer Leana (Spell??) and not only does she have amazing vocals, she is also super sweet.  After mingling with the party attendees for a little while, I started to roam and found a Rockabilly band outside of the Globe (www.HighOctaneBand.com), a bachelorette party in Wai Tiki, and a bunch of confused out of towners all over the place.  By the end of the night, it was PACKED and I found out exactly why people head to Wall Street on Saturday nights and most other nights too....it's crazy!  I had a great time, and if you want to see a little bit of what I'm talking about, there will be a video of it all later this week....so stay tuned :)

Big Ten Four = The Next Big Thing

I guess I have been living under a rock here in Orlando. I am honestly ashamed to admit that I have never heard of the Big Ten Four until this past week. I was asked to go to the Social (the best live music venue in downtown Orlando) & take pictures for the band's DVD live recording. I had no idea what I was in for. I contacted their manager whom set me up with a chance to meet the band before the show & take pictures for the website. Anywho... I arrived at the Social around 9ish after I stopped by the Orlando Sentinel building to pick up the digital cameras & OCB stickers, etc. I met up with Rick Wheeler & then I met Dan, Matt, James, & Matthew. I went backstage & I saw Matt curling his hair with a curling iron. I wasn't sure what to expect from these guys. I shook hands with everyone & they were all appreciative of me taking their pics for the website. I didn't think too much of it. We took some good photos on stage. Sooo... the fans started showing up. They didn't stop coming.... I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SOCIAL SO PACKED!! The show was sold out & they were turning people away at the door. It didn't take me long to realize that tonight was going to be bigger than I had anticipated. I started talking to everyone that I could. I took a lot of pictures & gave out a lot of stickers. It is encouraging to see that orlandocitybeat.com is actually gaining more & more exposure. My how times have changed! No one had heard of us 3 years ago. NOW.... almost everyone knows about it & LOVES to get in the pictures. I barely have to ask anyone these days. I have people coming up to me most of time...lol. Anywho... the opening band was Ariya (www.myspace.com/ariya). They played a great set. I met up with them afterwards & took a few pictures. Meanwhile... I could barely move. I was bumping into almost everyone... it was insane. The concert started & all I can say is... AMAZING. They kicked ass... there is no way around it. I was VERY impressed. I will definitely buy their new cd, which comes out on May 13th. I would encourage everyone to check these guys out on my space (www.myspace.com/bigtenfour). They rock, but they are also cool guys... which really goes along way in my book. I believe that they have all of the key elements of breaking into the mainstream music industry. The fans were totally into the show. I could hear them singing along on all of the older songs. I talked with a few people that had just seen they play in Daytona during Spring Break... can you say "following"?  Check out "walking disaster"& "smells familiar". I cant wait to see the DVD & get a copy of their brand new album. Good music = good times.

Hot Wings & Rasslin'

Hooters. The name speaks for itself. Every guy loves the delightfully tacky
restaurant chain... even if they don't like the chicken wings. Personally, I
prefer mine naked. Yes, I am still talking about the wings. So, what happens
when you add ice cold draft beer, hot wings, scantily clad waitresses &
WRESTLEMANIA on pay per view??? I had the pleasure of finding out for myself
this past Sunday at the Hooters in Casselberry.
The "Super bowl" of professional wrestling attracts quite an
interesting/diverse crowd. The pay-per-view started at 7 p.m. I was told that the tables were full & standing
room only was established about an hour before that. I had the worst time
finding a parking place. The entire parking lot was not only packed with cars, not to mention wrestling fans. The skating rink next door offered parking for a reasonable $10. I pulled a John Cena & gave those guys the "F U". I found an open spot on the side of the road further down the street.

I had a lot of fun taking pictures & passing
out stickers. I also enjoyed learning that the Undertaker has never lost a
match at Wrestlemania, Rey Mysterio is the new World Heavyweight Champion,
& that more people dislike John Cena than the WWE would like to admit. I
think that everyone should check out a wrestling pay-per-view at Hooters at
least once in their life. The combination of athleticism & theatrics are
very entertaining. I like the fact that it brings people together as well (everyone
cheers for the good guys & boo's the hell out of the bad guys). I also
recommend the Hooters in Casselberry because they were kind enough to let me take pictures for Orlandocitybeat, the
service is outstanding (show some love to Emilie, Leslie, & Jasmine), &
they also gave me a free Sweet Tea! Seriously, I love those guys like a fat kid
loves cake. Do yourself a favor & check out some sports entertainment at
Hooters.

Okay, on a side note. Has everyone checked out the video clip from the
Florida Film Festival? If not, definitely click on the link. You will see some
funny movie impersonations & of course... BRANDY. Seriously guys... you
gotta love Brandy on the shock squad. She's in almost every picture of O-lens!
I am envious of her popularity.

Gtg. Ciao for now. Behave & I look forward to seeing everyone at the
next OCB event.
