PUERTO RICO ---- OHHH!!!

PUERTO RICO ---- OHHH!!!

When I relocated two years ago to Orlando, I was pleasantly surprised by how prominent the Hispanic culture was – I am a non-Hispanic but lover of all cultures, especially those involving sultry dancing, tasty food, and golden-bronze men. This weekend’s Fiesta Medina was a personal haven for me and Central Florida Hispanics; Salsa, Merengue, Arepas, Coronas, Sombreros and even the infamous Chonga sightings – Latin fun galore.

So, thanks to Helena, we stopped at every food vendor for spicy, sweet, salty, and cold treats - with a beer on the side of course. My literal American translation- seasoned beef on a stick, cod fish fritters, corn bread and mozzarella cheese patties, Spanish beef patties, and frozen fruit goodness.

Old-Skool mama and papas were spinning to the salsa rhythms at the Rumba stage and the New – Skoolers were shaken what their mama gave them at the Power 95.3 stage!  It’s obvious where we spent most of our time, except to meet the infatuatic needs of Helena to see her favorite salsa band who sang a song about a bad diet. There were quiet a few cuties in the mix, though a little too young for my taste – I must admit though I was tempted to break my 26 and older rule.

LOVED IT….

Note to self: add Fiesta Medina to 2009 personal calendar.
