Troma Dance Fundraiser and F/X Con After Party

Funky hair, lots of piercings, great tattoos....where was Amelia you ask?  Simple, I was at Backbooth for the Troma Dance Fund-raiser and F/X Con After Party.  Tonight some of the pictures went a little medieval with swords and showing great male strength!!  (Take a look at the picture gallery you will see what I mean).  It was interesting to say the least.  The highlight of the night was definitely the random fan of Super Robot Configuration who had her fifteen minutes of fame and became the backup dancer as the group performed.  Their music was an interesting mix of break beats and rapping, as a matter of fact I'm going to go look them up as soon as I get off this blog.  Backbooth is always homey with local bands that have great fans and call out requests and sing along.  Always good to see the local music scene being supported.  On a side note--- I got schooled folks, I now know more about what Troma is exactly and you will too once you watch the video (lightbulb effect).  I have to say it makes me want to check out the huge Troma event that goes down every October. Until next time Orlando.......

hot and latin, what more could you ask for?

Who knew that a latin restaurant/nightclub located in a shopping plaza ALLLLLL the way down south OBT would be such a poppin' hot spot for Orlando's latin community? I sure didn't. Saturday night at Coco Bongo's proved to be one of the most energized and diverse latin nights I've been to in a long time.

The best thing about Coco Bongo's is that it had something for everyone. If you wanted to just hang out, have a drink and chat with your friends, there was a quaint little VIP section with cute little sofas and a nice ambiance.  If you wanted to hang out and socialize, you can hit the bar on the other side, grab a drink and meet some new people. You can even make your way to the huge dance floor in the middle and show off your hot latin moves, which, by the way, the girls and I witnessed plenty of. We even tried to show off some of our own moves, but I don't think we quite measured up to the crowd. At least I didn't.

Our favorite part of the club, however, had to be the reggaeton room all the way in the back. The younger crowd populated this area, and, let me tell you, they sure know how to party! Yes, I am half latino, and yes, I know how they love to have a good time, but I forgot what dancing fiends we can be! Those kids broke it down to the pulsating beats coming all the way from the dj booth upstairs, and we even got treated to an appearance on the dance floor by the DJ mingling with the crowd. I'm sure if we weren't trying to squeeze our way in between all those hot, sweaty, gyrating bodies to find people to photograph, we would have been out there breaking it down ourselves. But, of course, the job comes first.

Hot and latin, what more could you ask for in Orlando? We all promised to come back together one night. And believe me, we will. Coco Bongo's, we'll see you next Saturday :)

BM...F???

BMF Saturdays was the theme for this past Saturday at Cleo's Lounge, but I had no clue what BMF meant. When I got to Cloe's I was informed that it was Bob Marley night...cool, I love Bob Marley, but what does the F stand for?

This was my first time at Cleo's, so I did not know what to expect, I certainly did not expect to see pool tables when I first walked in. Is says lounge and you think, martinis and dim lights. I was wrong and I was happy to be wrong considering that I love playing pool. I wanted to put down a quarter and start playing but then I would not find out what the F stands for in BMF. So back on the case, we headed for the bar, we take pictures of unsuspecting poeple...awww I love their face when they see us coming, like a deer in headlights. LOVED IT.

I especially loved the music with its cool beats of trance, dance and some reggea played by the coolest Dj i've met. With their layed back atmosphere and simplified bar it was a hang out not a martini bar.

So we made our way outside for interviews, it was time to find out what the F meant. So we got our victims...uh interviewees and asked them about Cleos saturdays and they told us what their thoughts were, some sober and some...well I dont know what to call one of them. Come one you saw the interviews. Anyways noone knew! So I still do not know what the F stands for, so if you do pleeaaasee let me know.
