Alicia Lyman gives you minute by minute coverage of the Anti Pop Music Festival in downtown Orlando
The Bravery
The second night of 2007’s Anti-Pop festival showcased The Bravery in The Club at Firestone with a near capacity crowd pogoing and doing the snobby 80’s side to side hip and head shake. At 9:50 pm they were already a few songs into their set and even though a majority of the audience was way into it, I sensed that the venue was in a rush to get their very popular Saturday Thursday night underway.
After trying to work through and with the crowd to get a few decent photographs, it was brought to my attention that they were playing older songs like “Swollen Summer” and “Public Service Announcement” off of their 2005 self-titled album as opposed to the familiar, and ridiculously catchy hit “An Honest Mistake” off of their latest release The Sun and the Moon.
Maybe that was going to be the encore, which would’ve been the perfect segue to the infamous 70’s and 80’s up-tempo-indie-electro-nu-dance stuff that the kids like to shake their asses to these days at Saturday Thursdays, but I had to make the (2k ft). trek back down Orange Avenue to get to the next gig.
