Copper Rocket is not closing down
For those of you concerned about Copper Rocket Pub in Maitland closing, rest assured. Turns out the sign out front stating the Village Plaza coming in spring of 2008 is not a sign of doom for the pub. I placed a call to the Rocket and was told the shopping plaza will be getting a facelift to make it look a little more up to date to coincide with the new shopping plaza going up across the street. We can all agree the shopping center was dated to say the least, but Copper Rocket's lease is still good for a couple of more years so they're confident they'll be there for at least that long.
That said, turns out Brix downtown may have closed down. One of my spies caught a "For Sale" sign out front and what appeared to be realtors checking out the joint. I placed a couple of calls only to have ringing but no answer. No disconnect message either so I'll swing by and see what the story is.
