Feed the Hunger

This week it was O-lens Shock Squad live at AKA lounge for the Rock for Hunger concert.  Now I dont know about you guys but what a great combination you come out, you rock out, and you help out.  Genius pure genius....After receiving the longest air guitar ever by some of the performing artists we got to find out about the event a little better.  The event raises money to build homes and provide shelter and food for the homeless in the local area, totally a worthy cause to enjoy yourself.  I talked to members of the band Feedback and found out that they just released their first EP which they are very excited about....so make sure to look them up!  So excited that they were sweating from every pore!!  They did some air drum action for me, cant say I've really seen that before, its interesting.  We got to see StumPp perform and I can definitely understand why they were crowned UCF's band of the year last year.  Also on a quasi deeper note....sometimes you are in the dream band and thats a nice place to be...watch the video and reflect.....till the next FLASH peace!!!

Mardi Gras pub crawl

Hi everyone! Just updating you guys on some of the craziness that ensued downtown this past weekend. Though we didn't get to celebrate in New Orleans, we did the next best thing: Mardi Gras Pub Crawl! Always a good time, always a lot of people, and, of course, always a lot of crazy drunken debauchery.  For those for of you unfamiliar with the Pub Crawl, it's an event that is held about once a month usually with a different theme and brings party animals from bar to bar all over Orlando.  The mayhem began at Slingapour's (unfortunately we missed the commencement), and moved on to Zinc.  Natasha, Melanie, and I (OCB sure picked a good team!) met up with the partygoers at Zinc, where beads were already flailing everywhere and shot were being thrown back.  It was good time until about 10:30, when we noticed that literally the entire bar cleared out for the next venue.  I guess people were eager to continue the crawl! We headed out to Chiller's on Church Street, where we unsuccessfully tried to get some photos of the crowd inside; the bar was WAY too packed! After trying to "chop it up" through the crowd, we finally decided to stay outside and converse with some of the wanderers in front of Chillers. As always, we met a LOT of cool people, decked out in Mardi Gras gear: jester hats, top hats, oversized beads galore! Everyone truly seemed to be in the festive spirit.  It was definitely no Bourbon Street, but if you blinked really quick it might seem like it.  We even got some good interviews out it, which you have to check out in our videos.  I have to admit, and I think I speak on behalf of my team, that we were a little jealous watching everyone so drunk and having such a good time. But, of course, we had to be good little Shock Squad-ers and have our own sober fun! The party finally finished up on the rooftop bar Latitudes, where it seemed people were finally winding down.  I guess I would be a little calm if I had bar-hopped for four hours! Actually, come to think of it, I don't even think I could last four hours! So, I salute you, Mardi Gras Pub Crawlers: anyone who can survive shot after shot after blocks of walking for that long has earned respect from this party animal.

80's Flashback

Do you like the 80's?  You will after you go check out AKA Lounge on Tuesday nights for their 80's party.  Now I have to admit at first I was a little bit wary of this adventure.  However, as soon as Bohemian Rhapsody came on and people piled onto the stage to give the best performance of their lives for the song, I couldnt help but "feel the beat".  You could also catch performances by random patrons when the song Thriller was played. We talked it up with Jeremy at the bar and apparently after you have enough drinks your ready to give an all out performance to just about any 80's song that would come on.  AKA lounge guys check it out let that 80's spirit that's in you on  Tuesday nights....See you at the Pub Crawl Orlando

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!!!!???

Now I am not going to state which team I was pulling for in fear of any backlash but I will say Buffalo Wild Wings on International Drive was a great place to bring in the final game of the season.  I lost count of the number of screens exactly but I believe if you turned your head in any direction about 3 degrees there is no possible way for you to have missed a millisecond of this game.  The manager David has a great place out there and seems like everyone that came to watch the game had no second guesses that they wanted to be there to watch it.  You could enter the raffle to win this awesome football shaped grill, perfect for tailgating (if you know me you know I wanted this!!).  There were all kinds of support in the form of jersey wearing, and some for those teams that didnt make it to this game, as you will see in the pictures.  He wasn't wearing a jersey but the Bar Manager Eric secretly told us who he was rooting for but I can not disclose that information.  After talking to Martin and King I discovered that there were other Florida games on during half time that they were also rooting for.  That's too many games for me to keep track of.  All in all after sitting down for some Buffalo Chips with cheese and a side of Blazin sauce to dip them not only was the game on fire but so was my mouth.  Check us out next at the AKA Lounge on Pine St. for 80's night by that time I will regain the feeling in my lips I hope.....
